Web titans MysteryGuitarMan and King of the Web teamed up over the last two weeks to run an election for KING OF THE SANDBOX.
Fans were asked to submit their best toys-themed videos and vote on King of the Web. Winners win big prizes including a collaboration with MysteryGuitarMan!
Well, the voting is complete and the winners are in!
4th place: JaceDin3D with “Scrabble Showdown”
3rd place: WowzaKid123 with “Raid of the Toys”
2nd place: Sean Klitzner with “Help Me Kill MysteryGuitarMan”
(someone seems sorta confused about the definition of toys….but who are we to judge…)
WINNER: Sawyer Hartman’s creepy monkey pal, “Buddy”
Congrats to all the winners and thanks to everyone who submitted and voted!
Next week’s theme is COLORS!! Submit your video here: http://mysteryguitarman.com/sandbox
Last month, we asked for the best of the best to submit your designs for BAMMO’s new open card. You answered. We were overwhelmed by the quality of the entries and inspired us to turn over a new design leaf.
It was a fierce battle between the contestants designs, but MegaTroll has helped us pick a winner:
Thanks to everyone who worked hard on a concept and design and submitted a video!
Along with this new open card, BAMMO is also excited to announce a whole new look for the channel, launching June 20th, 2012!Mike Rotman, Head of Production at Big Frame, had this to say about the change:
The great thing about YouTube and Bammo is that we have a very vocal audience. It’s important to listen to them.
Our fans really respond to professional video making, especially special effects, and how to replicate them in their own videos.
Our new look is simply the continued evolution of giving our audience what they want and expect.
BAMMO will also premiere a new Tuesday line-up in the coming weeks. Video match-up show, VKO will run Mondays. Mike Diva’s variety shows TurboTime/Mike Diva Presents keep the Wednesday spot. MysteryGuitarMan’s Sandbox, and Corridor Digital’s breakout hit web series, SYNC round out the lineup.
In addition to launching the new open card and matching designs across the channel, BAMMO will be airing the semi-finalists from the contest as the open card on assorted videos.
What do you think of our new look?
Ultimately it’s too early to truly evaluate the YouTube original content push, it’s in its infancy. Many of the notable channels from those early press releases—multiple Warner Bros. channels, Deepak Chopra on health, Shaq rounding up comedians, Rainn Wilson doing science—have yet to come. Yes, some major, major names are churning out videos (the US Olympic Committee, Stan Lee, theWall Street Journal). But anecdotally, these efforts lack the attention of their cable-based counterparts. No major media outlets yet devote critics to covering them (future Weekend Ar(t)s topic?), and unique, refined metrics are still be worked out to evaluate where one channel stands compared to others just yet.

What’s your favorite YouTube original content channel? You don’t have to say BAMMO…but if you do, we’ll blush.
Last week, Austin-based blue grassers, Whiskey Shivers took on contenders The Scar Media’s THE ONE (a short action scene) in their second week on BAMMO’s new Monday show, VKO.

The competition was judged by Big Frame’s very own Exotic Jess, Joe Hanson from Badge of Shame and Billy Sorrells who you may remember from Sh*t Black Girls Say on Youtube.

While the challenger brought some crazy VFX skills to the arena, the un-supervised, gun-toting shenanigans of THE ONE wasn’t quite enough to capture the victory last week with Whiskey Shivers taking it with 57% of the vote!
Back for the 3rd week in a row, will Whiskey Shivers claim VKO victory once again? Only YOU can decide.
VKO is a video match-up competition appearing weekly on Mondays on BAMMO. Don’t miss the action! Make sure you’re subscribed to BAMMO.
yay!

What do you get when you combine five YouTube stars (with an aggregate view count just shy of 700 million and a total subscriber base bumping 5 million individuals) under the banner of a single channel that’s part of the $100 million YouTube Originals initiative and run by a media company that provides “marketing and production resources for the biggest YouTube influencers”?
You get a YouTube channel with a name that’s evocative ofsomething you’d see on a Roy Lichtenstein print that features original content across five brand new series from the likes of MysteryGuitarMan, DeStorm,CorridorDigital, Mike Diva, and Tay Zonday. (Full article here via Tube Filter)
